For Parisian model and Lancôme ambassador Caroline de Maigret, 40, travelling means a change of pace
MY FAVOURITE PLACE FOR A HOLIDAY IS THE GREEK CYCLADES.
The moment I step off the boat, I’m totally relaxed. I like to travel around the islands – there’s always someone with a room or little guesthouse to rent and we normally get lucky. There’s not much to do, but that’s what I love about it – I spend my days playing with my son, Anton, swimming in the sea or finding a shady spot to read. My partner got so sick of me taking stacks of books away that he bought me a Kindle. Right now, it’s loaded up with biographies.
MY PACKING'S ALWAYS DONE MESSILY AND AT THE LAST MINUTE.
I fantasise about being that incredibly organised woman who has a second make-up kit and toothbrush on standby, but in reality I'm forever running around looking for stuff. I do love my suitcases, though. They're handmade leather, bought with the money from my first modelling job - a fortune for me back then - and have really stood the test of time. For Greece I fill them with light, airy dresses and my Thierry Lasry sunglasses.
I LIKE TO LOOK SMART, BUT FEEL COMFY WHEN I TRAVEL.
MANI/PEDIS AREN’T JUST PRE-HOLIDAY PREP FOR ME.
I keep my toes neutral all year and have fun with bright oranges and pinks on my fingernails.
I GIVE MY HAIR A BREAK ON HOLIDAY.
It’s fine and a little on the dry side and at home, I’m forever washing it because the pollution in Paris makes it greasy. When I’m away, I just spritz it with , £15, to protect it from UV and saltwater and rinse it in the shower at night. My hair’s always much softer after a holiday.
I’M NOT A SUN-WORSHIPPER, BUT I DO LIKE A HEALTHY HOLIDAY GLOW.
Every morning, I apply Lancôme’s SPF30 lotion on my body and , on my face. They’re really hydrating, so I don’t need a separate day cream. At night before I go out, I apply , £24.50, all over – it has a sheen to it, which is quite sexy. I’ll finish my look with a touch of pink cream blush (3, below) on my eyelids, lips and cheeks – so pretty when you have a tan – and lots of black mascara. The thicker, the better.
Number 3: , £55
THE BEST WAY TO MAKE ANY ROOM FEEL LIKE HOME IS WITH A CANDLE.
I take , £20, with me wherever I go – it smells so good in summer and it’s perfect for Greece because there are fig trees everywhere. Another thing I do when I arrive in the hotel or guestroom is remake the bed – then it really feels like mine.
