Once a week we’ll be carefully selecting a bottle of something alcoholic to be our 'drink of the week'. Bottles you’ve probably not tried, made with care and precision, by producers who are dedicated to their craft and worth sipping to support..
If you haven't noticed that pink gin is now a thing then, well, where have you been?
Last week I blind tasted not one, but twelve different pink gins so trust me when I say I've done the research and this, Malfy's Gin Rosa, is the pink gin to try this summer.
Pink gins range from sugar sweet editions that barely taste like gin anymore (*resists from naming names*) to expertly-distilled, perfectly-balanced creations that still clearly sing "gin" from the rooftops but also introduce summer-perfect flavours like pink grapefruit and pink peppercorn.
Malfy's beautifully bottle gin rosa is the later. It's made with Mediterranean pink grapefruit and Italian rhubarb but has enough classic juniper in to make sure this drink doesn't stop feeling like a gin. It's delicately flavoured, not overpowering but wonderfully refreshing.
In short, it's the perfect tipple for summer.
Suggested serve: This is sweet and delicate enough to drink on the rocks. Views of the Italian ocean preferable.
