There is not much more joyful than a day at food festival - endless tasters, everyone high on sugar, lots of exciting cookery demonstrations and plenty of new, wholesome (and less wholesome) brands to discover.

So we've rounded up our top pick of the best UK food festivals to celebrate all of the year-round deliciousness, from the famous Falmouth Oyster Festival to ring in the start of the seasonal oyster dredging to a heart warming apple festival in Kent and a brilliant foraging experience down in the beautiful Devonshire countryside at Huntsham Court.

River Cottage Festival - Best UK food festivals

River Cottage is a name that will make all foodies instantly prick up their ears, and you will want to listen up to this gem of food festival coming to the UK on the 24th and 25th of August.

Join Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s gang at the iconic River Cottage for two days of cooking masterclasses, street food, demonstrations, live music, yoga and sit-down meals. The line-up has yet to be announced, but last year saw names like Prue Leith and Caroline Lucas.

Make sure you sign up to receive updates as they are revealed because this certain to be a foodie lineup you won't want to miss.

Falmouth Oyster Festival - Best UK food festivals

Now in it's 23rd year, the Falmouth Oyster Festival heralds the start of the oyster-dredging season and runs from 10th - 13th October.

To celebrate their anniversary the festival will be pulling out all the stops. Plenty of local restaurants will be getting involved with live cooking demonstrations, stalls selling everything from crafts, to of course, the famous native Fal oyster. There’ll be wine bars, seafood bars, live music, a boat race, a shucking competition and a grand oyster parade.

Ludlow Food Festival - Best UK food festivals

Set in the beautiful grounds of the imposing Ludlow Castle, Ludlow’s food festivals are truly unique. Their 2019 Spring Festival will take place on 11-12 May, with the focus on ‘beer, bread, bangers & classic cars’.

There will be talks, tastings and demonstrations from top chefs and top foodie influencers and they'll also have their 'Bake In Time' marquee with Great British Bake Off Stars appearing to demonstrate their baking skills

You'll also be able to mingle with brewers from some of the biggest names in the region will be in attendance, including Hobsons, Corvedale, Brecon Brewery, Wye Valley and Ludlow Brewery.

The Big Feastival, Cotswolds - Best UK food festivals

The Big Feastival is back again between the 23rd and 25th of August with it's very own cheese hub (yes, CHEESE HUB) as well as all sorts of demonstrations, talks, stalls and fun activities for the whole family to get involved in.

As well as top class food and some of the biggest chefs around you can also expect some brilliant music. This year's line up has yet to be announced but last year saw Paloma Faith, Craig David and Basement Jaxx take to the stage.

It's basically the foodies version of Glastonbury so make sure you grab your tickets soon if you're keen to go!

Llangollen Food and Drink Festival - Best UK food festivals

Over in the lush Welsh hillsides, the Llangollen Food and Drink Festival is now in its 20th year and has won the Independent's accolade of one of the ‘top ten food festivals in Britain’.

This year it’s taking place on the 19th and 20th of October. Entry is £5 (though under 16's go free!) and for that you’ll get cookery demonstrations from top chefs (yet to be announced) and be able to take part in fun workshops as well as trying lots of fabulous local produce.

Huntsham Court
F.E.A.S.T Project: Huntsham Court - Best UK food festivals

Ok, so this one is not quite a festival but a brilliant new foodie package that’s being offered down in Devon at Huntsham Court. Set in the rolling Devonshire countryside, Huntsham Court is a gorgeous grade II listed Victorian Gothic mansion, which can be rented out entirely for weddings and parties.

At the F.E.A.S.T adventure guests will be assigned to teams and taken out into the lush Exe Valley, then guided by experts they'll be able to fish, forage, (clay) shoot or butcher fresh produce ready to take back to chef Peter Mundy for him to prepare it.

After pre-dinner drinks everyone will gather around a shared table and share an incredible meal that everyone's worked hard for, before retreating to one of the mansion's 34 beautiful bedrooms for an overnight stay.

Taste of London, Regent's Park - Best UK food festivals

We know it's an obvious one but it's a good one nonetheless. London's largest food festival will be returning to Regent's Park this year for four glorious days of workshops, demonstrations and the chance to get your hands on food form some of the capital's most famous restaurants and chefs.

From cocktail masterclasses to demonstrations in the grand-sounding Taste Theatre, this is the foodie event of the year and promises to dish up an appetizing mix of fun and deliciousness.

This year it will be taking place between the 19th and the 23rd of June.

Dartmouth Food Festival - Best UK food festivals

Another Devonshire foodie treat to add to your list comes in the form of the Dartmouth Food Festival, which is running from the 18th to the 20th of October. Seventy percent of the 120 exhibitors are from Devon and they’ll be showing off all of their local produce, selling everything from to Devon fishcakes to Hunt’s Cider.

Best of all, there’ll be all sorts of wokshops on offer like pizza making, crab cracking, olive oil tasting, ceviche making and masterclasses in steak and sushi.
